2010; what a year it was when it came to foreclosure auctions in Palm Beach County. We started with the County Clerk taking the auctions on line the first week of February and with today’s final auctions of the year successfully sold a total of 12,304 properties on line.
After last week, when we saw the lowest foreclosure numbers in Palm Beach County for the year, we did see considerably more action but then we did have 4 auction days compared to only 3 last week. With all of the holiday interruptions it will be nice to get back to a full schedule of auctions and see if in fact things are leveling off. We do not have another missed day until February 21st so we have seven straight weeks with 5 auction days scheduled and we will be watching them very closely.
The chart above represents the advertised foreclosure sales for each week over the past six month period. We do have historical numbers going back since on-line auctions began so if anyone wants that information please contact me at your convenience. Please note that the numbers shown represent the total advertised sales for that week but are not broken down into sales that were sold to the Plaintiff or sold to a third party. This week, the actual foreclosure auction numbers increased significantly to 160 units from 109 the previous week.
Third party bidders continued to see much success this week as 16 of the 160 auctions going their way and at 10% this is a very high number. Watch for an upcoming blog where we look deeper into the recent success of third party bidders. These foreclosures represent some of the best opportunities for buyer’s in today’s market.
