32 new trains will be running through Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens each day
The fervor is building and All Aboard Florida is moving towards becoming a reality. Locally, officials are very concerned about the impact and things like the condition of the railroad bridge that transports trains over the Loxahatchee River. Can the bridge take this added traffic? But first things first; just what is All Aboard Florida?
If you were not aware of All Aboard Florida you will be. Especially if you live anywhere near the train tracks that run parallel to the ocean in our area. Florida East Coast Industries is developing a privately owned high speed network to provide train service to tourists and residents alike. This isn’t going to happen tomorrow but it is going to happen and in a highly populated and sought after destination like south Florids it makes sense. Really good sense.
And really expensive sense as the current price tag is about 1.5 billion dollars. I could write a book about the pros and cons, the time line, the station locations, etc. but you can get all that at their website at http://www.allaboardflorida.com. After all this is a blog dedicated to south Florida real estate and these trains will have a significant effect on anyone living in Palm Beach County.
If you live along the tracks in communities that have homes in close proximity to the tracks you know about the noise. I am talking about Jonathan’s Landing, Admiral’s Cove, The Ritz Carlton, Evergrene and all the rest. I am also talking about you (and you know who you are) that sit angry each time a train crosses your path on Donald Ross Road and causes a 5 to 10 minute delay in your routine. Well that is with daily traffic of 12 to 14 trains that we have right now. When All Aboard Florida gets up to full steam it will add about 32 daily trains through the area. So from 12 to 14 we go to 44 to 46 trains each day, every day.
Will it impact you? If you live in an area where you interact with the tracks it will. And it will be in a big way.
